In The Know with Lenny Kwong

FILL US IN ON YOUR BACKGROUND, WHO YOU ARE, WHAT YOU DO?

My name is Lenny Kwong, born & raised in Hong Kong. I’m an editor for V Magazine & Propaganda Free Paper.

WHERE DO YOU GO FOR YOUR CHEAP EATS, COMFORT FOOD?

I often go to 鴻運冰廳餅店 Hung Wan Café. It’s an old school Cha Chan Teng Hangout for Triads. Johnnie To And Stephen Chow filmed on location there. Hong Kong has fewer and fewer places like this!

HOW ABOUT FOR A NICE DINNER AND A NIGHT OUT?

I would choose CHINO. I like that it’s not in Central, so it’s a lot more relaxing.

ON WEEKENDS, WHERE DO YOU GO TO LEAVE BEHIND THE HUSTLE AND BUSTLE OF THE CITY?

I really don’t go out on weekends because I’m constantly out for work. So I’d rather chill at home on weekends.

WHERE DO YOU SHOP? ANY SECRET FINDS THAT YOU CAN LET OUR GUESTS IN ON?

Delstore, Goldyard, and Beatniks. I’m also addicted to buying film and shooting analogue pictures, there’s this secret processing lab called Output Pro in Prince Edward that all the analogue film geeks go.

WHAT DO YOU DO FOR ENTERTAINMENT? ANY GREAT ART, MUSIC, THEATRE OR CINEMA VENUES YOU WOULD RECOMMEND?

There’s no constant when it comes to venues. I’m not really into any mainstream art or music, so I go where the events take me. I typically find out about events through friends on Facebook.

WHAT’S THE BEST SOUVENIR TO BRING BACK FROM HONG KONG?

Tea leaves from 福茗堂 Fook Ming Tong.

ACT LOCAL – WHERE, WHEN AND HOW?

This is an important yet multifaceted question for Hong Kong that can’t be answered in a sentence. It’s something that needs a few beers and time to talk through…..hahaha, buy me a beer and maybe we’ll discuss more.
